The State’s Attorney Executive Committee of State's Attorneys had a productive day at the Vermont State House on March 26, 2025. The Executive Committee met with Governor Scott, Senate Pro-Tem Philip Baruth, Senate Government Operations Committee, and individual House and Senate members. The goal was to advocate for funding and increased staffing for the Department, citing the overwhelming caseloads precipitated by the increase in all types of criminal activity occurring in Vermont communities.
The Executive Committee discussed the critical issues facing the State’s Attorneys and noted the importance of investing in the work of the State's Attorneys offices. The request for additional funding gained some limited support by the House after Speaker Krowinski weighed in on our behalf. We anticipate more support in the Senate with the backing of Senate Pro Tem Baruth, as well as the Senate Government Operations Committee, and members of Senate Appropriations Committee.
