Statement from the Department of State’s Attorneys and Sheriffs concerning the citation of the Grand Isle State’s Attorney

• Following contact by the St. Albans Police Department, the matter was initially referred to the Franklin County State’s Attorney’s Office. The Franklin County State’s Attorney identified a conflict of interest.

• The Attorney General’s Office was asked by the Department to handle the case. The Attorney General’s Office declined to accept the case.

• Due to the existing conflict in Franklin County, the Chittenden County State’s Attorney’s Office has agreed to assist.
